The girl in this piece is modeled after Bisan Owda, a Palestinian girl who once made beautiful arts & culture videos in Palestine. She has become an iconic hero for her live news reporting in Gaza. The conflict, now in its 19th month, has displaced almost 90% of the population and severed Palestinians in Gaza from water, food, shelter, electricity, fuel, and other vital supplies.
The girl in this piece wears a folkloric Palestinian-styled dress with symbols from the keffiyeh. The artist chose Peace Lilies and Forget-Me-Nots flowers to represent her sentiments against war.
100% of this sale will go to a children’s fund called Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), a nonprofit organization working for the rights and the well-being of children in the Middle East. MECA supports dozens of community projects for Palestinian children and refugees from Syria. Since 1988 we have delivered $42 million in food and medical aid to Palestine, Iraq, and Lebanon. MECA welcomes the support of all people who care about children and their future.
