DARK MOON, LEAVE ME IN SOLITUDE by artist Adriana Carranza
Archival ink pens, 18” X 24”
"The serpent appears in mythology as perhaps the most powerful of all images of renewal and transformation. It is the guardian of the wisdom of the underworld and of prophecy. The ability of the snake to regularly shed its old skin and renew itself was reflected each month in the renewal of the new moon and in the menstrual cycle of womyn. Like the moon, the snake was seen as a symbol of light and of darkness; it lived both above the ground and in the earth in burrows and caves."
