Dear Cherry,
My house is next to the kafeneio (coffee house). It’s been the heart of the village since before my great-grandparents time, where everyone gathers throughout the day & night. Anyone who knows how to play an instrument spontaneously shows up with it. I’ve pulled so many memorable all-nighters here, and have experienced some of the best music nights. Sometimes when I look around at the old chairs/tables, I think about all the ancestors that sat there (including my dad), drinking coffee, playing cards, fighting over politics, listening to music, etc.
It’s a piece of home for me.

This past spring a few of us met up inside, and watched tv- movies, soccer, and the greek version of Survivor. Anytime I see Keanu Reeves now, I think of our movie nights with the best commentary.
