FULL MOON, VIEW FROM GRANDPARENT'S HOUSE by artist Athanasia Nancy Koutsouflakis
Oil on wood, 5”x 2.5”
Note for this postcard:
Dear Giki,
When I was a little girl I use to love staying here at my grandparent’s house (Yiayia’s parents). Me and my cousin Athanasia would sit outside for hours at night and look at this view. Sometimes she’d see her first boy crush and call him “Strawberry” because he had rosey cheeks… we were little!!, whatever, (we’d obviously have better nicknames now).
One of my favorite memories from then was walking home once in the full moon, with this view behind us. There was no electricity in the village, and we had our flashlights off because the path was brightly lit by the moon. The two of us quietly sang Moonshadow by Cat Stevens that whole way home, and kind of skip-danced. We could perfectly see our moon shadows dance around in front of us. It’s a beautiful photographic memory forever in my head.
Love you my sweet baby!
