“Three Sisters” is a personification of the three main staple crops of various Indigenous people of North America. Corn, beans, and squash are planted in a symbiotic triad in which they support and help one another in order to thrive.
The Three Sisters also offer spiritual significance, as they are seen as gifts from the Great Spirit to sustain life on earth. They offer a space for gratitude, appreciation and a respect for this gardening technique.
