Sometimes, the coming of death requires a transformation from the inside. When a woman is not yet old, but no longer young, she arrives at a crossroads where the ways of the past no longer serve. Autumn has come and transformation is not only possible, but necessary. This piece is about which gardens we choose to keep watering—those that are desert no matter how many jars we pour, or those that will reward us with late-blooming flowers.
