"Dead Sea Pioneers" explores humankind's impact on animals.
This piece was prompted by our desire to genetically manipulate lab animals (in this case a literal interpretation of an experiment where a gene specific to jellyfish was inserted into lab mice DNA causing them to florescence). Living in a sea of bleached coral not so far into the future, these mutants survive in a world where only animals that were bred to benefit humans exist.
