We spent a lot of time in the side alley of our childhood home, where there was a long rain gutter... my sister and I would grab a bucket, fill it with water and each of us would run around the yard foraging leaves, flowers, dirt and stones to make what we called "witches brew". We did little chants and stirred our stew with branches, sometimes chewing on sour grass stems. Makes complete sense that Halloween is now my favorite holiday.
