Via the artist: Women's issues have always been a particular passion of mine. Just to inhabit a female body is a political act. To thrive as female, even more so. The Iron functions well as a symbol of the work society assigns to a woman's sphere --the kind of 'women's work' that is 'never done' while at the same time, unacknowledged and unpaid.
