This piece was partly inspired by one of the most iconic images in sports history, the photo of Muhammed Ali shadowboxing underwater.
“Muhammad Ali Boxing Underwater” (1961) was taken by American photographer Flip Schulke. He captured the boxing legend and cultural icon aged 19, standing on the floor of a Miami swimming pool in a boxing pose.
