Fates /feɪts/ Myth. Goddesses of destiny, known to the Greeks as the Moerai and to the Romans as the Parcae. These three goddesses determined human destinies: Clothos or Nona (spinner) spun the thread of life determining birth; Lachesis or Decima (allotter) measured the thread of life allotted to each person; and Atropos or Morta (unturning) chose the manner of each person's death by cutting their life-thread.
