ROYAL BLOOD by artist Kahla Lewis
Oil on panel, 11” x 14", framed to 16” x 19"
This piece is inspired by the parallels between historical royal blood lines and the practice of breeding dogs for extreme physical traits. Charles II of Spain was a king so inbred that he was described at the time as "short, lame, epileptic, senile, and completely bald before 35, always on the verge of death but repeatedly baffling Christendom by continuing to live."
