NOADERL (Night Owl) by Alexandra Lukaschewitz
$ 490.00
Paper, old book page, wire & glass eyes, 6" tall (15 cm) in a 8" x 4" (20 x 10 cm) glass dome
Alexandra's little 'Noaderl' is inspired by the folktale 'Die verwünschte Spinnerin / The Cursed Spinner', a tale of a poor and beautiful girl who despite her mother's warning spins night after night and in the end is turned into a night owl. What Alexandra likes about this story is that the girl being transformed to an owl is more a salvation than a curse, unlike in so many other folk and fairy tales.
The cursed Spinner is part of Franz Xaver von Schönwerth's collection of Bavarian folktales.
About: Munich artist Alexandra Lukaschewitz creates sculptures and pictures from paper. Her anthropomorphic creatures quote pop culture as well as natural history. She has a fondness for the curious,the wonderful, the fragile.

Alexandra is the co-founder and curator of Dog & Pony - a personal Wunderkammer and pop-up gallery space in Munich.
