Greek Pagan Folktales: Μόρα/ Móra by artist Anima ex Manus Art Dolls
Mixed media: mixture of polymer clays over a strong wire armature, soft body, vintage and found fabrics and trims (hessian burlap, gauze, silk threads, felt etc.). Her woolen cloak is detachable. Her arms are poseable and her eyes are hand-painted. The “moss”-covered cane and tiny bones on her head scarf are also handmade by me. She can stand on her own, as her skirt functions as a sturdy base. She is painted with soft pastels, acrylics and watercolors, and sealed with matte and gloss varnish.
Height: approx. 36.5 cm/ 14.4 inches
Mora is a demon connected to sleep and nightmares. She is a terrifying old hag that only appears at night. She appears among the shadows, in the dark. When she comes across people sleeping, she sits on their chest. Her weight is such, that the person cannot move, causing asphyxiation, sleep paralysis and nightmares.
