AMALIA by artist Myriam Powell
Stone clay, wool roving, fabric, paper flowers, golden cage, 13.5" tall
AMALIA celebrates Day of the Dead every year. She knows the sorrow of her lost love is not forever and hopes to someday be reunited; that’s why she keeps her sacred heart close to her.
AMALIA is a mixed media art doll. Stone clay sculpted over a golden cage. Inside of the cage Amalia has a stone clay sculpted sacred heart. The sacred heart measures 4" tall and is removable. All is painted with acrylics and sealed with matte finish. Amalia is holding a flower bouquet made with paper flowers and small stone clay sculpted sugar skulls.
Amalia's dress is made with red, purple, and day of the dead fabrics with purple, yellow, and green trim. She is wearing a black shawl. Her hair is decorated with paper flowers and tiny skulls beads.
