THE SPOILS FROM THE ENCHANTED NIGHT by artist Nancy Cintron
Oil on wood board, 12” x 12”
Halloween was a obviously a very important holiday. Our costumes were always handmade &/or thrown together at that last minute. The dressing up part was exciting, but the calculations of which houses to run to by the time porch lights went out was more thrilling. We wanted the best free candy and as much as possible. It was a huge race, so we planned it all out with experienced precision. We knew who gave out the bigger bars and the most handfuls, and then avoided the houses with the circus peanuts, discounted cheap crap, and pennies.
By the end of the night we would all retire to our own houses, talk about the best decorated houses, and then sort out all our spoils from best to worst candy. Every year was a memorable one to remember with best friends, free candy, scary decorations, and favorite Halloween tv specials.
