About the piece: I was inspired to create this apotropaic sculpture after reading "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall. Robin shares the folklore of the Wendigo, who is a mythological creature from the Algonquian tribe. The Wendigo is a malevolent spirit which possesses human beings into having symptoms of insatiable hunger and greed.
I used recycled materials and doll parts to make both the Pandora’s Box and Wendigo. I inked an original poem on hand dyed paper and did an acrylic painting behind the doll.
The box is 8" x 10". The Wendigo is 8" tall.
