LAUNDRY DAY CROW (UNDIES) by artist Samantha Jane Mullen
Pyrography, graphite, white ink and resin on layered basswood cut-outs, 13.5” x 7”
Shown in second image with its sister piece LAUNDRY DAY CROW (BRA). To adopt them together at $950, contact Sandra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I love watching the playful crows fly about outside my studio window. They are so curious and have such depth of character and intelligence. Did you know crows have funerals and love cold peanuts?
This piece is a meditation on feeling sluggish and slovenly and finding the humor and positivity in life’s dirty laundry. These pieces are coated in resin and are therefore extremely water resistant and humidity proof so I like to imagine them living in one of those rooms where “the mess” happens like a laundry room, bathroom or kitchen!
Conservation status according to audubon.org:
“Attempts at extermination in past have included dynamiting of winter roosts. However, the crow remains abundant, and is increasingly adapting to life in towns and even cities.”
