This special piece depicts Angelino's Italian cousin, Gelino, depicted with his old friend, the hare (Gelino on front and Hare on back). Angelino, is the Cactus Gallery tortoise, and Gelino, his cousin, are BOTH renowned in their families for being the winner of a very famous foot race that happened way back in the 1500's, in Greece (since they are both tortoises, they have lived for a very long time, of course), and every Thanksgiving their families get together and bicker and argue about who really won the race. Knowing that Angelino has a wonderful sense of humor, I felt he would appreciate that this artwork means we all know who really won.
