BELLE'S FLOCK 2 BROOCH by artist Gioconda Pieracci of Pupillae Art Dolls

$ 38.00
Belle's Flock brooch is made of paper clay, ethical wool, hemp yarn, approx 1.5" tall.

About BELLE:  Some months ago I heard a story: Here, where I live, there is a valley called Valley of the Dragon, it is a very green valley with a river, the Dragone, that flows in the middle. In this green valley, suddenly, a very high rock rises that can be called a mountain, it is an ophiolite and that is an outcrop of volcanic or magmatic origin. Since it is also composed of iron, the color of the rock is rust red and few plants grow on it. It is called Monte Calvario because on the top there is a cross that overlooks the cliff that dominates the valley.

It is said that on this rock there is a sheep, escaped from some flock that lives there climbing, the strange thing is that that area is full of wolves but the sheep resists and has been spotted and photographed on more than one occasion. By now its wool is so abundant that it probably protects it from predators' attacks. This story struck me because this small and defenseless animal seemed to me a mythical animal, a metaphor and an inspiration for its courage and its ability to survive in a hostile environment. In its chest it has little daughters or the memory of the flock because I also imagined the loneliness of such a social animal that despite the isolation keeps in its heart the idea of community and the bond with it like a red thread.

Shown in last images with its sisters and BELLE (sold separately).
