About the piece: A life time of collecting is a passion of mine.
I see a discarded item, a much loved possession from a past life-and it speaks to me- I’m compelled to “ rescue” it.
These are the stories of long ago lives- they beg to be kept alive and shared.
This is also true of our most treasured memories- they should always kept close in our hearts.

Mavis Leahy is a self taught fiber/mixed media artist whose creations are a reflection of the many rich cultures of her native Los Angeles. Mavis creates mixed media, textile collage and assemblage from vintage materials and found objects.
Mavis has been creating work for Cactus Gallery since 2009.
