This piece was inspired by the beautiful masks that the Azteca often used in cultural and spiritual ceremonies and celebrations.
Mictecacihuatl is the Aztec goddess of death and Mictlan, the underworld. She is often portrayed as a skeleton. Her job is to hold the souls of the departed, guiding them on their transformative journey from life to the afterlife.
Mictecacihuatl (meek-te-kah-see-wah-tl) is a timeless representation of the cycle of life and death.
