T is for Tomb (Tomaz has Visitors) by artist Mavis Leahy

Hand embroidered on antique linen, antique steel cut metal beads.
Antique Gutta-Percha frame circa late 1800 (no glass)

About the piece: Mourning the beloved dead is a well practiced tradition and the Victorians were masters at it. The symbolism, the rituals, and the customs to cope with a terrible loss were a part of everyday life.
