About the piece:
This tiny ornament for the show was inspired by the snowy nights of my childhood. I used to watch from the window the delicate snowflakes fall down, or sometimes, when the village was completely deserted under a thick blanket of snow, my dad, my sister, and I would go skiing through the streets as the snow kept falling. But my favorite memory is the silence... That soft, magical stillness that snow brings. I remember going to bed wrapped in that muffled quiet, and it felt like being inside a fairytale.
I crocheted the crown with a beautiful silk and linen yarn. The little face is sculpted in paper clay and then painted with acrylics.

Gioconda lives in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. She has a great passion for literature, drawing, theater and the arts in general. She creates dolls and sculptures by mixing different materials, preferring those that have an intrinsic warmth such as wool and felt, wood and wood pulp, paper and paper clay.
