38 EL APACHE (The Apache) / El Águila Dorada by artist Gabriela Zapata

$ 440.00
Acrylic on wood, 9 x 11"

This piece is an homage to Gerónimo, a military leader and medicine man from the Bedonkohe band of the Ndendahe Apache people. Gabriela grew up hearing his name and knowing him as a symbol of courage and resistance against the colonizers.

El Águila Dorada (the golden eagle) universally symbolizes freedom, strength, power, and courage. Historically, it represents spiritual ascension, wisdom, and a connection to the divine, owing to its ability to fly close to the sun and possess impeccable vision.

Also shown here is the original Don Clemente Gallo card for EL APACHE.

Riddle associated with this image: ¡Ah Chihuahua! cuánto apache con pantalón y huarache.
