Acrylic on metal plate, 10" round
Climate change is warming ocean waters and shrinking the clownfish. While this is worrisome, it shows their adaptability and ability to evolve and survive.
This metal plate was one of my favorites to work on and hangs easily on a nail. The lacy cut outs cast a beautiful shadow on the wall as well. I wanted to paint on metal plates for this series for a couple reasons. One was the look of metal is reflective like water. Second, it makes me think of ship wrecks on the ocean bottom, containing all sorts of silverware and treasure.
This Victorian style plate seems perfect for a talented sad clownfish.
