This piece is made from remnants – book cover cut outs – along with vintage thread in hand sewn design, wall paper sample and vintage frame.
From decaying organic material, new life takes root and grows, blossoming into a visual masterpiece in which it reproduces then returns to the earth from which it originated where it becomes the womb for new life to take shape.
The female bloom cycle can last for decades, even once we can longer reproduce, we still bloom in different ways. We take on new roles of care givers, mentors, wise women whose experience and wisdom will help others blossom into something new and wonderful.
With this piece, Valerie has taken elements of age and reused them to create something new and lovely, a blossom nourished from the past.
