Via the artist: I chose to explore the metamorphosis of the human soul, often depicted in bird lore throughout the world.

In Egyptian Mythology the Ba was your unique personality or non physical presence. It represented one of the five parts of the soul and was depicted often as a bird with a human head.

Egyptians thought that birds were able to fly between the worlds of the living and the afterlife, so often the Ba was depicted as leaving the body in bird form.
