MAMMA ROSA by artist Anna Vigurs

Mamma Rosa's head and hands are made from Das, an air dry robust clay.
Her body is made from organic calico cotton. She has a wire frame securing her 'Secret Garden' cavity and her body is filled with rice. She is beautifully weighty!

She has reclaimed material as her dress and a black velvet cavity, in which sit real dried organic flowers. The arrangement was created by an amazing floral artist named 'Botanical Flowers'.

Mamma Rosa has golden thread details around her arms and chest.

Mamma Rosa

There is a small patch of forgotten land, hidden in a valley, many miles away. In the mornings, dew laden leaves weigh heavy. And tight flower buds, grow plump and blush in the first light.
Where there are flowers there's hope. Life beyond this garden gate isn't easy but the flowers are Mama Rosa's medicine, for her body and soul.
In the dry, late summer, her old twisted fingers pluck at the blooms and she hangs them, with nettle twine in her warm kitchen to dry.
Forever flowers. They aren't just for her eyes to feast on during the winter, but they decorate a place in her heart with hope and resistance.
