BLACK LIVES MATTER II by artist Snow Mack
My BLM works were inspired by the overwhelming events in May and June 2020 and the massive protests across the United States. I witnessed people of all colors, ages, and walks of life coming together to protest systemic racism in our country. I wanted to create signage that expressed these messages with beauty and dignity in an effort to capture a feeling of euphoria and raise our collective spirit.
I am thrilled my digital BLM collages were accepted by the Autry Museum's Collecting Community History Initiative: BLM Protests in the West. "The mission of the Library and Archives is to provide exemplary stewardship for the Autry’s renowned collections, inspire scholarship by a multidisciplinary research community, and fuel discussion about the past, present, and future of the American West. The archive will be made available online through the Autry’s Collections Online and library catalog as well as external online discovery tools."
Cactus Gallery's Sandra Mastroianni and the Artist, Snow Mack, will each donate 10% from the sale of Snow's works in this exhibit to the Black Lives Matter Movement.
