There are 54 images; each has a name and an assigned number. The cards are very colorful and the imagery on them is broadly recognized in all of Mexico, other Latin American countries, as well as European nations.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe most recognized version of Lotería is the “Don Clemente Gallo” rendition which was introduced in Mexico in 1887 by the French businessman, Don Clemente Jacques. The owners today own the registered trademark and have continued this version through 3 generations with the original artwork remaining the same.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAll 54 images of the original deck will be represented in the show. Basically I hand sew several layers of different types of textured fabric together- depending on what type of creature I'm creating. Then I give the animal a \"haircut\" and add extra details like dimples\/ grooves with embroidery. I then paint the fabric and work the paint into the whole fabric. Animals usually have a darker undercoat, so I work in the dark colors first. I brush out the fur as I paint to keep it from getting matted and to give it shape. The heron's beak is painted wool felt that I applied a gloss varnish to make it more realistic. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI try to re-purpose supplies\/materials as much as possible. All my frames are from antique\/thrift stores that I paint. The fabric I use is also mostly found in antique and thrift stores.
